Change the app’s language
EN → FR → original language
1. Open the language selector
Choose Language and library in the navigation. On a small screen, open Menu first. Find FR, EN and ES: these stand for French, English and Spanish. Take note of the language currently selected.
2. Try French
Select FR and look at the changed menu labels. The app also chooses an edition for the selected language, so check the language of the biblical text as well as the button names.
3. Return to your original language
Open the language selector through the same navigation entry, now called Langue et bibliothèque. Select EN if you started in English, or the abbreviation for your original language. Check that the labels have returned to that language.
Check the edition and open a chapter
Language and library → BEST → Genesis 1
1. Find the current edition
Open Language and library and find the name of the selected edition. If the list is collapsed, select that name. The edition determines the available text and resources, beyond the language of the app’s buttons.
2. Choose an available edition
Look at the editions offered in the list. If BEST is the only option, select it. Confirming the only option does not switch to a different edition; a translation that is absent from the list cannot be selected there.
3. Open Genesis
Go to the list of books and choose Genesis: Genèse in French or Génesis in Spanish. Then select chapter 1. Check the book name and the language of the opening verses.
4. Distinguish an edition from a tradition
Find the traditions bar above the verses. The letters V and G identify the Latin and Greek textual traditions. They do not identify the menu language. To compare them, use this bar and the Traditions guide, keeping the app’s language the same.
