Find a word in the Bible
Search → a word in the edition’s language → results
1. Open search
Select the magnifying glass in the app’s header. On a small screen, open Menu, then choose Search. If the app asks you to sign in, use your account and return to search afterwards.
2. Enter a word in the text’s language
In the search field, enter light for the English edition, lumière for French or luz for Spanish. All three words have the same meaning: choose the one that matches the language of the biblical text you have open.
3. Browse the results
Results appear as you type; you do not need to press Enter. Look at the references and text snippets. If the list is empty, check your spelling and the language of the search term. A loading error does not mean that the word is absent from the Bible.
Read the passage in context

1. Choose verse results
Switch to the Verses tab if you are currently viewing commentaries. Read the book, chapter and verse reference for each result. The same word can occur in different accounts and have different meanings.
2. Open a result
Select a passage that interests you. Once the chapter loads, check the book name and verse number: they should match the reference in the results. For a first attempt, choose a match near the beginning of Genesis if one appears in the list.
3. Read the surrounding verses
Read the verses before and after the word you found. Who is speaking? What is happening at this point in the account? The snippet in the results helps you choose a passage, but does not replace reading the chapter.
4. Continue your search
Return to the search page using your browser’s Back button. If the search term was not preserved, enter it again and open another match. Compare the contexts of the two passages without assuming in advance that the word is used in the same way.
